Prioritize Chiropractic Care as You Transition Back to Work

With many remote positions transitioning back to the office, and many of us still chugging along working from home, it’s important to make sure you’re taking care of your muscles.

At Senara Health and Healing Center & Spa in Peoria, we know how important chiropractic care is to help reduce tension and keep you pain-free. Take a look at your office working habits and request an appointment at our Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Center

Neck Support

Is your computer monitor at a height that keeps you from craning your head? How about your chair back and height? Evaluate your work equipment and make sure you’re giving your neck support throughout the day.

First, make sure the top line of text on your computer monitor is at eye level to keep your head resting in a neutral position. Your keyboard should let your arms rest on the table while your mouse should be at the same height as your keyboard.

With your desk chair, you want to make sure your back is supporting so you’re not leaning forward or backward, causing strain on your neck. You can also adjust your chair height to keep the monitor at eye level.

Take Time to Stand

If you work a desk job in the office or at home, it’s important to take care of your muscles and joints. Sitting at a desk for eight hours a day can lead to back, neck, and spine problems if you’re not offering the proper support.

Getting up and walking around might feel easier to do while you’re remote. But if you’re back in the office, you can still make time for a short standing break or to take a quick lap around the office or to the bathroom.

Standing up, even for a moment, helps keep your body alert and increases your productivity. This also gives your muscles a second to stretch instead of staying in the same position during the entire day. Standing desks are another way to support your muscles and joints while you have to work.

Check With a Chiropractor

We know that transitioning back into the office can be an adjustment — so pair your move back to the office with a chiropractic adjustment! If you’re already experiencing pain or stiffness from sitting at a desk all day, a chiropractor can help you realign and find stretches and strengthening exercises to help prevent that from getting worse. Or if you’re worried about spending more time in front of a computer and want to avoid any bad habits, work with your chiropractor to create a plan to best support you!
