At Senara, you’ll hear the mantra Live Life Well. This saying takes root in our chiropractic and acupuncture center.
Chiropractors can help people recovering from a sports injury or another injury. But if you’ve never met with a chiropractor, you might be surprised to hear that they can help with a lot more than injury recovery.
In today’s blog post, we’re going back to the basics with: What Chiropractors Treat 101. See if you can find relief from chronic pain or a problem with a chiropractic appointment. Request an appointment at our chiropractic center at Senara Health and Healing Center & Spa in Peoria.

Headache & Migraine Pain
Headaches and migraines — especially if they happen chronically — can start to impact your daily life. In fact, the American Chiropractic Association estimates that 9 out of 10 people in America suffer from headache pain.
While headaches and migraines can be treated with prescription medication, it’s also worth visiting with a chiropractor to see if they can reduce any underlying physiological causes of your headaches. A chiropractor will look for things like tense neck muscles, pressure on the surrounding nerves and blood vessels, or a misaligned spine.
Back & Shoulder Pain
Pain in your back or shoulder could be caused by an injury, improper posture, or a job that requires you to remain at a desk for extended periods of time. Regardless of the cause of your back and shoulder pain, a chiropractor can address the alignment of the spine, and the stress and strain that your body is placing on the muscles, tissues, joints, and bones in that area.
During your treatment, your chiropractor can focus on those problem areas to relieve that stress and tension. Couple your spinal adjustment with physical therapy or massage therapy for a well-rounded (and non-invasive) approach to your pain.
Lumbar & Sciatica Pain
Lumbar, or lower back, pain happens when your lower back nerves are compressed or irritated. That lumbar pain can turn into something called sciatica, or pain that radiates through the nerve that runs from your lower back down one or both legs. Over time, the presence of this pain can make walking or standing uncomfortable. Sciatica can even cause numbness in your toes, muscle spasms in your low back and legs, and shooting pain.
A chiropractor is able to help alleviate some of that nerve compression by adjusting the bones on the pelvis and lower back. They can also add decompression traction therapy to alleviate pressure on the disc and physical therapy that works to strengthen the spine to prevent the pain from returning.
Prenatal Chiropractic Support
During pregnancy, the body goes through different transformations to make room for the growing baby. These changes can leave the mother with different aches and pains, including moderate to severe lower back pain. Chiropractors have studied the development and physiology of pregnancy to help support both the mother and fetus. Using a custom-fitted table that allows the mother to lie without any pressure on the baby, the chiropractor can assess the spine and pelvis and correct the cause of any pain in those areas.
Beyond pain relief, our chiropractors are trained in using the Webster Technique to help open up the pelvis, which improves the ease of delivery and can even aid with turning a breech baby.
Pediatric Chiropractic Support
As children develop, their nervous system can experience different stresses and tension. A chiropractor can help treat and alleviate the pain from different problems, including earaches, ADD and ADHD, digestive issues, and asthma and allergies. A chiropractor will meet with you and your child to address any problems and provide adjustments that can offer some relief.

Spinal Decompression Therapy
Spinal decompression therapy is a chiropractic treatment used for bulging and herniated discs, but can also offer relief for spinal compression, headaches, and sciatica. Using a decompression therapy table, a chiropractor can gently stretch the low back or neck to alleviate the pressure that builds up over time on those discs and nerves.
