Support for Your Skin This Winter

Hydration

Did you know that something as simple as drinking enough water each day will help keep your skin hydrated? Water plays an important part in our body and part of what gives skin its plump, healthy appearance is water. When your skin is dehydrated, it can start to dry out, becoming tight and flaky. This will also enhance the appearance of any fine lines and wrinkles!

When skin is hydrated, it is able to help combat oiliness on your skin. That’s why oily skin can be a sign of dehydration because your skin is producing more oil to compensate for its lack of moisture.   

This winter, start by just drinking enough water. Not only will this keep your skin plump and toned, but it will also keep other parts of your body — like your immune system and different organs — functioning at their best. 

Moisturizer

How often do you apply a moisturizer, like lotion or oils, to your body? Moisturizer helps your skin retain moisture, keeping it hydrated. But that doesn’t mean the solution is to dry out your skin with harsh products. Instead, you want to help hydrate your skin with products that provide moisture. 

Applying oil-based products can help your skin further retain moisture, keeping it hydrated. Some moisturizers work by trapping moisture in your skin, keeping it from escaping, while other products will restore moisture to your outer layer of skin. Microneedling

The collagen in your skin is what keeps your skin looking firm and smooth. But as the skin ages, collagen production can slow down, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles. When your skin becomes dehydrated in the winter, you might start to notice these wrinkles any more.
