With many states throughout the country dealing with cold weather and winter storms, it’s more important than ever to be kind to yourself and others. This winter, take time to support those around you and in your community with kindness. Take a moment to listen to others while also making time for yourself.
That kindness is what our Winter Health series has been about. From supporting your immune system to ensuring that you keep your body healthy and moving, you’ve seen how the cold weather can take a toll on your entire body. In today’s post, we’re going to look at your skin — the body’s largest organ. Cold weather can leave your skin feeling dry and cracked, but there are different ways to support your skin.

Support for Your Skin This Winter
Did you know that something as simple as drinking enough water each day will help keep your skin hydrated? Water plays an important part in our body and part of what gives skin its plump, healthy appearance is water. When your skin is dehydrated, it can start to dry out, becoming tight and flaky. This will also enhance the appearance of any fine lines and wrinkles!
When skin is hydrated, it is able to help combat oiliness on your skin. That’s why oily skin can be a sign of dehydration because your skin is producing more oil to compensate for its lack of moisture.
This winter, start by just drinking enough water. Not only will this keep your skin plump and toned, but it will also keep other parts of your body — like your immune system and different organs — functioning at their best.
How often do you apply a moisturizer, like lotion or oils, to your body? Moisturizer helps your skin retain moisture, keeping it hydrated. But that doesn’t mean the solution is to dry out your skin with harsh products. Instead, you want to help hydrate your skin with products that provide moisture.
Applying oil-based products can help your skin further retain moisture, keeping it hydrated. Some moisturizers work by trapping moisture in your skin, keeping it from escaping, while other products will restore moisture to your outer layer of skin. Not sure which moisturizer is the best option for your skin? Just consult with our medical spa experts!
The collagen in your skin is what keeps your skin looking firm and smooth. But as the skin ages, collagen production can slow down, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles. When your skin becomes dehydrated in the winter, you might start to notice these wrinkles any more.
Microneedling and PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) procedures can help stimulate collagen products and help smooth the appearance of those wrinkles, along with acne scarring. If you’re looking for a little boost this winter, try a microneedling appointment. During the procedure, our SkinPen will create micro-wounds on targeted areas of your face, encouraging new collagen production in those areas. As your skin heals, it will result in smoother, tighter skin.
Looking for a way to reduce the appearance of your frown lines and crow’s feet? This winter, consider a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. This FDA-approved procedure targets the cause of these lines, temporarily reducing the muscle activity that causes them.
One BOTOX® treatment can last for three to four months, so, if you schedule your appointments early enough, you can have tight, youthful skin for the winter months. But if you didn’t get your treatment scheduled, it’s not too late! Schedule a BOTOX® treatment at our medical spa and start spring without defined frown lines and crow’s feet!
While BOTOX® relaxes the muscles that create frown lines and crow’s feet, Juvederm® injectable fillers target the lines that appear around your nose and mouth. This includes areas like your vertical lip lips, marionette eyes, and other areas around your face that become more noticeable as your skin ages.
Juvederm® is injected into those areas, smoothing the skin in that area and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You will start to see these results around two to three weeks after your appointment, when the filler starts to settle into your skin. This treatment is a great way to bring youthful life back to your face during the winter.
As an added bonus, because fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid, they act as an internal hydrator. So you get extra moisture AND replace lost volume! Win-win!
Sometimes, you just need to pamper yourself with a massage therapy appointment! Some of our signature massage therapies target tight muscles and work to release tension in your tissue while others give your skin nourishing oils and essential oils that will leave both you and your skin refreshed!
While we know that you don’t need any excuses to visit our medical spa for a massage, winter is a great time to just take a moment and focus on yourself and your skin with a massage treatment.
