At Senara Health And Healing Center & Spa, we wanted to provide answers to these frequently asked questions about our different facial rejuvenation procedures so that you better understand the processes, benefits, and results. As always, we recommend that your request a one-on-one consultation with a Senara doctor who can provide you with answers to your specific questions before moving forward with any of our facial rejuvenation procedures.

IPL FotoFacial

What is IPL™ Photofacial/Fotofacial?

A photofacial, or “fotofacial,” is a 30-minute facial rejuvenation procedure in which intense pulses of light are used to penetrate deep into the skin. IPL™ photorejuvenation then causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. The procedure involves only minimal discomfort, while the redness and swelling that sometimes occurs after treatment disappear shortly. Most benefits of a photofacial/fotofacial occur gradually in the weeks following treatment. For even greater cosmetic enhancement, patients may also opt for a FotoFacial RF™, the Sublime Treatment, a procedure that combines radio waves with light waves to achieve excellent results in facial rejuvenation.

What skin conditions benefit from IPL PhotoFacial Treatments?

People who have blotchy, sun-damaged, or discolored skin, or those whose skin is affected by large pores, freckles, or wrinkles, may benefit from an IPLTM photofacial. The procedure is also quick and involves no downtime, making it a convenient option for people with busy schedules. However, those with dark or deeply tanned skin sometimes experience complications following IPLTM photofacial treatment.

Who is a good candidate for IPLTM Photofacial Treatments?

People with pale, untanned skin that is still somewhat elastic are the best candidates for an IPLTM photofacial. When performed on the right person, it effectively improves skin texture, eliminates discolorations, reduces pore size, and minimizes wrinkles and fine lines. If you have rosacea, a condition that causes blotchy redness in the face, you may also benefit from an IPLTM photofacial. For more serious issues, such as heavy facial lines and severe acne scars, patients may wish to consider more aggressive treatment, such as Ultherapy or Sublime and Sublative Facial Rejuvenation Treatments.

Who is not a good candidate for Intense Pulsed Light Treatment?

People with tanned or naturally dark skin sometimes experience changes in skin pigmentation after IPLTM photofacial treatment. African-Americans and people of Greek and Italian descent, for example, may wish to discuss possible side effects with a dermatologist before opting for this procedure. Additionally, people who are taking the medication Accutane® should not have an IPLTM photofacial until at least six months after they stop using the drug. Pregnant women should also postpone treatment until after they give birth.

How does IPL™ Photorejuvenation work?

During IPL™ photorejuvenation treatment, high energy light waves are used to reduce or eliminate many common effects of aging, including facial wrinkles and skin discolorations. IPL™ light also encourages the production of collagen, a natural protein that fills in wrinkles, making the skin smooth and supple. With each treatment, the results of IPL™ photorejuvenation become more pronounced. Five full-face IPL™ photofacial/fotofacial sessions spaced three weeks apart are normally required for optimal results.

What should I expect during the treatment?

Before the procedure begins, you will be given protective eyewear to protect you from the bright flashes of light. A cool gel is often applied to the treatment area, both to lubricate the handpiece and to help cool the epidermis during the treatment. Your skin care specialist will apply brief pulses of bright light to the skin through the handpiece. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour.

During the IPLTM photofacial procedure, you will feel a warm sensation caused by the handpiece. Some patients liken the sensation to a light “snap” from a rubber band. The number of pulses you receive will depend on the size of the area being treated. Following the procedure, your skin care specialist may help you in icing down the treatment area to help soothe any discomfort from the procedure. This is often unnecessary, however, as IPLTM photofacial treatment causes very little pain.

How long is the recovery time for an IPL™ procedure?

The recovery time from an IPLTM skin procedure is often very short, as there is very little damage done to the skin during treatment. Depending on the skin malady you are seeking to remedy, as well as your skin type, the redness that is present following the procedure may persist for a longer or shorter period of time. The side effects of IPLTM photofacial treatment dissipate within a few hours for many patients. For some patients, however, the redness or dark spots may take a week to fade. Patients treated for severe acne sometimes experience longer recovery times, though they are often amazed by the results when the side effects wear off.

The most important things to remember following IPLTM photofacial treatment are to avoid the sun for several days and to wear plenty of sunblock for at least two weeks. Intense pulsed light therapy can give you excellent results for a year or more, but you must take care to ensure your skin is protected for the first few weeks after treatment.

Are there any follow-up IPLTM Treatments?

Often, multiple IPLTM photofacial treatments are necessary to achieve maximum results. Especially if you are seeking to remedy multiple problems — for instance, if you are seeking to improve skin texture and reduce redness — multiple treatments affecting different layers of the skin will likely be needed. Your skin care specialist can help you find out how many IPLTM photofacial treatments you may need to achieve your cosmetic goals.

What are the risks and benefits of IPL™ Treatment?

IPL™ photorejuvenation involves relatively little discomfort and no downtime. Unlike many laser techniques, the procedure is non-ablative, meaning no skin is removed during treatment. This contributes to the relatively easy recovery and low risk associated with the IPL™ photofacial/fotofacial, while allowing patients to return to their everyday routine immediately. However, patients should be aware of both the risks and benefits of photorejuvenation. Potential risks include bruising, blistering, scabbing, and changes in the skin’s pigmentation, although most of these issues soon disappear.

Sublime Skin Countouring

How does Sublime work?

The combined bi-polar radio frequency and light energies of elo-s technology precisely heat the dermal tissue, stimulating collagen production within the target treatment area. Fine wrinkles are reduced, facial contours improve, and overall skin quality reveals a much smoother and even complexion for amazing facial rejuvenation.

When can I expect to see results?

Most patients see gradual and cumulative results throughout their Sublime treatment series. The total number of required treatment sessions depends on your skin’s condition.

Is Sublime right for me?

Elo-s technology is a safe and effective solution for most skin types.

Does it hurt?

Sublime is a gentle, comfortable treatment requiring no downtime. Many patients return to normal activities immediately after the treatment. Cooling of the skin’s surface provides enhanced safety and additional comfort for this facial rejuvenation treatment.

 Sublative Laser Skin Resurfacing

What are the benefits of Sublative Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Sublative Rejuvenation is clinically proven to treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and textural irregularities caused by excessive sun exposure.

  • Little to no downtime post-treatment — patients can return to regular activities following treatment.
  • Sublative Rejuvenation works from the inside out by stimulating cell regrowth. Thus, results with Sublative Rejuvenation last longer and can be further enhanced with yearly maintenance treatments.
  • Proven safe and effective on ALL SKIN TYPES and degrees of pigmentation.

What makes Sublative Rejuvenation different from other aggressive fractional devices?

Patients today desire face-lift-type results, yet do not want the weeks or even months of downtime associated with those treatments.

Sublative Rejuvenation is unique because it delivers optimal efficiency with minimal downtime at an affordable price point — and it’s safe for ALL skin types.

How does Sublative Rejuvenation work?

Sublative Rejuvenation uses fractional bi-polar radio frequency to penetrate through the skin to allow more energy beneath the surface of the skin to really maximize collagen production while keeping the top layer of the skin intact.

Post-treatment, you may notice increased levels of beneficial collagen as new healthy skin cells are produced. Mild to moderate wrinkles and superficial skin discolorations are reduced, and the texture of your skin becomes smoother and more elastic.

How many treatments do I need?

Each patient’s treatment protocol will vary based on individual needs and results desired.  Most patients will receive four treatments, each spaced four to six weeks apart.

When can I expect to see results?

Patients will begin to see results 30-60 days after the first treatment and results will continue to improve up to one year post-treatment.  Because this treatment works to rebuild collagen, there are no limitations on how long the results last. Maintenance treatments are recommended after one year to maintain and further enhance current results of facial rejuvenation.

Does it hurt?

Unlike other aggressive fractional treatments, Sublative Rejuvenation is very tolerable. During treatment, many patients feel a warm, prickly sensation.

After treatment, a pink or red “sunburn” appearance and feeling is common. Topical anesthetic ointments and cooling are used to reduce unpleasant sensations during treatment.

Are there any side effects?

No clinical side effects have been reported to date. The beauty about Sublative Rejuvenation is its capability to offer significant results to ALL skin types with little to no downtime.

Is everyone a good candidate for Sublative Rejuvenation?

Sublative Rejuvenation is the only fractional treatment that can be used on all skin types. Some skin conditions (such as eczema) may prohibit patients from receiving the treatment. Consult your skin care specialist to determine if Sublative Rejuvenation is the right facial rejuvenation treatment for you.

How do I prepare for my treatment?

Apply topical numbing crème 30–45 minutes prior to appointment. You may pick up the gel before your appointment or come early the day of to apply before treatment.

What do I need to do after my treatment?

Your skin will appear red and feel sunburned for a few hours after your treatment. Use the air conditioner in your car or a paper fan (for a bit after treatment) or apply an ice pack if you like.

By the second or third day after treatment, most patients report that very little redness remains.

DO NOT APPLY ANYTHING TOPICALLY FOR 12 HOURS POST TREATMENT.  The laser channels remain open to the lower layers of your skin for up to 12 hours. Applying topical crème or ointment will burn and sting. You may apply tepid water.

After 12 hours, use your home care kit as prescribed:

  1. Cleanse face with mild cleaner.
  2. Use the Phyto corrective Gel (green in color).
  3. Liberally Apply epidermal repair.
  4. APPLY SUNSCREEN (very important). Your skin will be sensitive to the sun.
  5. You may apply any make-up after your sunscreen.
  6. Use biocellulose mask on day 2 or 3, leave on as long as you like.
  7. If you need, you can apply additional moisturizer or aquaphor to dry areas
  8. Your skin will feel a little rough and scratchy for up to a week. This is normal.  RESIST THE URGE to use an exfoliator or “SCRUB” it off. Let it come off naturally.

Triniti Plus

How does it work?

The Triniti Plus treatment combines bi-polar and light energies to precisely heat the tissue to eliminate brown and red spots, fine lines, wrinkles, and improve skin tone for overall facial rejuvenation.

How many office visits are required?

Triniti Plus saves time compared to other facial rejuvenation treatment programs. All three treatments are done in one session. Depending on the individual, additional sessions may be added. One touch-up session may be needed every six months.

Does it hurt?

Most patients easily undergo the procedure. In addition, topical anesthetic cream and external cooling can be used to increase your comfort level. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

When can I expect to see results?

Typically, results are seen gradually and continually over the course of the treatment. During your initial consultation, your medical practitioner will personalize your treatment schedule for maximum facial rejuvenation results.

Is it safe?

Treatment is safe and effective for most skin types and skin colors.

The Triniti Plus treatment is a treatment offered exclusively with elo-s technology, which was designed with light and RF energies to be safe for most skin types.

Ultherapy FAQs

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. Ultherapy uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin, on the neck, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

What is unique about Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift skin. Ultherapy is also the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment to ensure the energy is deposited to where it will be most beneficial.

With the addition of the new Ultherapy® Décolletage Treatment, Ultherapy is also now the only non-invasive procedure specifically indicated by the FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest.

Can Ultherapy replace a face lift?

Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of a facelift. Ultherapy is a great alternative, however, especially for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.

How does Ultherapy differ from laser treatments?

Ultherapy uses sound energy — tried-and-true ultrasound — which has unique properties that allow it to bypass the surface of the skin to treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. Ultherapy ultrasound stimulates collagen production in the skin’s foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over two to three months.

Lasers rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers at an optimal temperature, so laser treatments typically only treat superficial skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift skin.

Since the two technologies often treat different types of skin issues, they’re actually very compatible.

How does Ultherapy stimulate the creation of collagen?

Ultherapy deposits focused ultrasound energy deep beneath the skin at the optimal temperature for collagen regeneration. The treatment jumpstarts a natural process, known as neocollagenesis, to produce fresh, new collagen. Ultherapy doesn’t involve any creams, fillers or toxins; it just relies on your body’s own collagen-building process for natural, noticeable results.

How long does an Ultherapy® treatment take?

The length of the Ultherapy treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60–90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

Will I need to take time off?

With Ultherapy, there is no downtime. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately without having to follow any special post-treatment measures.

What does the Ultherapy® treatment feel like?

As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

When will I see results? How long do they last?

After your Ultherapy® Treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the ultimate results will take place over 2–3 months as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

How many Ultherapy® treatments will I need?

Most patients only need one Ultherapy treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to the ultrasound energy, and the individual’s collagen-building process, some patients benefit from additional treatments. Because skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help patients keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.

Are there any side effects?

The skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. As with any medical procedure, there is the possibility for other rare effects, which your practitioner will review with you.

Click here for full product and safety information.

Is Ultherapy safe?

The FDA-cleared Ultherapy® procedure has been used safely in over 250,000 treatments worldwide. Ultrasound energy has been used safely in the medical field for more than 50 years. In addition, every Ultherapy practitioner receives extensive procedural training, so you can feel confident in receiving your treatment.

How much does an Ultherapy® procedure cost?

The cost of an Ultherapy® treatment can range from $250–$6000, depending on the areas being treated. Since the treatment is so personalized, to get the most accurate price quote, it is best to schedule a consult.

Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?

A good Ultherapy candidate has mild to moderate skin laxity where the skin begins to feel and look less firm. Examples include a lowered eyebrow line, loose skin on the neck, sagging under the chin, and lines or wrinkles on the chest.

Kybella FAQs

How many treatment sessions will I need?

Your healthcare provider will help you determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Up to six treatments may be administered, spaced no less than one month apart.*

*59% of people treated with KYBELLA® in clinical studies received six treatments.

How is KYBELLA® administered?

KYBELLA® is given during an in-office visit. The injection process may take 15 to 20 minutes. Your healthcare provider will give you a series of injections into the fat under your chin at each treatment session.

What can I expect after my treatment session?

For most patients, downtime occurred most commonly after the first treatment session. You should be able to resume your normal daily activities, but are likely to have swelling, so keep your social plans and work commitments in mind when scheduling your treatment. Prior to your KYBELLA® treatment session, your healthcare provider may apply ice/cold packs or topical and/or injectable local anesthesia to the treatment area to make you more comfortable. He or she may also suggest you take an over-the-counter pain reliever before your appointment. After treatment, apply ice or a cold pack to the treatment area for 10 to 15 minutes, as needed.

Will there be side effects?

KYBELLA® can cause serious side effects, including nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness (experienced by 4 out of 100 people in clinical studies) and trouble swallowing (experienced by 2 out of 100 people in clinical studies). The most common side effects include:

  • Swelling
  • Numbness
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Pain
  • Areas of hardness

Is KYBELLA® for you?

KYBELLA® may be right for you if:

  • You’re bothered by fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness
  • You don’t want surgery
  • You feel the condition makes you look older or heavier than you actually are
  • You eat well and exercise, but submental fullness does not go away

If most of these statements apply to you, ask your doctor if KYBELLA® is right for you. Before receiving treatment, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including if you: have had or plan to have surgery on your face, neck, or chin; have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin; have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area; have had or have trouble swallowing; have bleeding problems; are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA® will harm your unborn baby); or are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA® passes into your breast milk; talk to your healthcare provider about the best way to feed your baby if you receive KYBELLA®).

KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) injection 10 mg/mL Important Information

Indication

The safe and effective use of KYBELLA® for the treatment of subcutaneous fat outside the submental region has not been established and is not recommended.

Important Safety Information

Contraindications

KYBELLA® is contraindicated in the presence of infection at the injection sites.

Warnings and Precautions

Marginal Mandibular Nerve Injury

Cases of marginal mandibular nerve injury, manifested as an asymmetric smile or facial muscle weakness, were reported in 4% of subjects in the clinical trials; all cases resolved spontaneously (range 1-298 days, median 44 days). KYBELLA® should not be injected into or in close proximity to the marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve.

Dysphagia

Dysphagia occurred in 2% of subjects in the clinical trials in the setting of administration-site reactions, eg, pain, swelling, and induration of the submental area; all cases of dysphagia resolved spontaneously (range 1-81 days, median 3 days). Avoid use of KYBELLA® in patients with current or prior history of dysphagia as treatment may exacerbate the condition.

Injection-Site Hematoma/Bruising

In clinical trials, 72% of subjects treated with KYBELLA® experienced hematoma/bruising. KYBELLA® should be used with caution in patients with bleeding abnormalities or who are currently being treated with antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy as excessive bleeding or bruising in the treatment area may occur.

Risk of Injecting Into or in Proximity to Vulnerable Anatomic Structures

To avoid the potential of tissue damage, KYBELLA® should not be injected into or in close proximity (1 cm-1.5 cm) to salivary glands, lymph nodes, and muscles.

Adverse Reactions

The most commonly reported adverse reactions in the pivotal clinical trials were: injection site edema/swelling, hematoma/bruising, pain, numbness, erythema, and induration.

Glycolic Chemical Peels FAQs

Medical-grade glycolic peel services are effective in improving the skin’s tone and texture. Your licensed esthetician will select the appropriate glycolic peel treatment for your specific skin needs.

Why should I get a glycolic chemical peel?

Over time, exposure to sun, stress, and environmental aggressors can cause signs of premature aging, such as unwanted pigmentation, dull skin, and wrinkles. SkinCeuticals Professional Peels stimulate cell turnover and strengthens the skin’s structure to reduce pigmentation, smooth skin texture, and improve radiance. SkinCeuticals peels are also effective in reducing acne by decreasing oil and enhancing surface exfoliation to decongest clogged pores.

What results can I expect to see?

Following your first glycolic chemical peel treatment, skin texture will be noticeably smoother, with improved skin brightness and clarity. Unlike other chemical peels, you will experience minimal to no downtime. After four to six chemical peels, you can expect a significant improvement in skin tone, discoloration, and the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity, depending on your concern and peel.

How often should I receive a glycolic chemical peel?

SkinCeuticals Professional Peels can be done once a month. For optimal results, a series of four to six chemical peels is recommended, particularly for acne-prone skin or stubborn discoloration.

Why should I choose SkinCeuticals chemical peels?

SkinCeuticals Professional Peels are designed for maximum customization to fit individualized skin needs, and to evolve over time as your treatments and skin concerns change. SkinCeuticals Professional Peels can also be used in conjunction with clinical procedures such as lasers and injectables for complementary results.

CoolSculpting FAQs

NEW! Say good-bye to your double chin. The CoolMini applicator is FDA-Approved to treat submental fat.

Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?

Good candidates have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. The CoolSculpting fat reduction procedure is specifically designed for those who have unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. Unlike gastric bypass surgery, the CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight loss solution for people who are obese. It is, however, a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Request a one-on-one consultation with us to determine if the CoolSculpting procedure is right for you.

How much does the CoolSculpting procedure cost?

The price for CoolSculpting procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of sessions needed, and your ultimate goals. We will help create a customized treatment plan that’s tailored to your body, your goals, and your budget. Pricing starts off at $800 per cycle (we’ll explain at your consultation what a “cycle” is, promise!). The average for an initial treatment is around $2400–$3200, to give you a ballpark figure. That amount is just an average though, so your treatment total might be higher or lower than that, which is why your initial consultation is always complimentary.

How long is each session? How many sessions will I need?

We will help you create an individualized CoolSculpting treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. The length of your CoolSculpting session will vary depending on the number of areas being treated during one visit. We may schedule additional sessions in order to meet your goals.

Where does the fat go? Are the results permanent?

Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), your body processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.

What does a CoolSculpting treatment feel like?

As the cooling begins during the first few minutes, you will feel pressure and intense cold. This soon dissipates. Many people read, watch videos, work on their laptop, or even take a nap during their treatment.

Is the CoolSculpting procedure safe?

The CoolSculpting procedure is FDA-cleared for the flanks (love handles), abdomen, and thighs. With over one million CoolSculpting treatments performed worldwide, it has proven to be a safe and effective treatment for non-surgical fat reduction.

Are there any side effects to CoolSculpting?

During the procedure, you may experience deep pulling, tugging, pinching, numbness, or discomfort. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, and pain. Rare side effects may also occur.

The CoolSculpting procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. The CoolSculpting procedure is not a treatment for obesity. As with any medical procedure, ask your Senara physician if the CoolSculpting procedure is right for you.

Can I return to normal activities after my CoolSculpting treatment?

Yes, you can. The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Often times, patients return to work after their CoolSculpting session is over.

When will I see results?

You may start to see changes within a few weeks after your treatment, but your body will still flush out fat cells and continue doing so for several months after treatment.

Do I need to take special supplements or follow a strict diet and exercise program?

No supplements or pills are required and you do not have to adopt new diet and exercise habits to receive a CoolSculpting treatment. Many patients feel more motivated to take care of themselves after their CoolSculpting treatment. It is as if they get a second lease on their body and want to start anew again by taking even better care of themselves.

What happens if I gain weight down the road?

Many people, after seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure, take even better care of themselves. However, if you do gain weight, you may gain it evenly all over your body, not just in the treated areas.

What payment options do you accept?

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and check. We also accept Care Credit for guests interested in financing their CoolSculpting services.

Anti-Aging & Functional Medicine FAQs

Why are there so many tests for a functional medicine treatment?

Functional Medicine views the patient as a whole — physically, chemically, and emotionally. By gathering information from all of these areas, your Functional Medicine practitioner can see a complete picture of your health status. They then use that information to pinpoint the root cause of any ailments you are experiencing. Your practitioner can then tailor your treatment protocol accordingly, leading to better outcomes for you.

Can I have all of my tests done at Senara?

We offer diagnostic testing on-site for a number of the basic labs we use for both the Medical Weight Loss and Anti-Aging treatments. Some specialty testing can only be done at local laboratories. In some cases, testing will be done via a collection sample at home. Please note, a few tests will require fasting for a set period of time prior to administration.

Can a Senara Doctor be my primary care physician?

Unfortunately, no. Your functional medicine practitioner does not offer acute care services. Rather, our goal is to focus on your long-term health and goals through preventative services, and nutritional and functional medicine approaches. We will gladly confer with your primary care physician or other specialists if required, though.

What are your fees?

  • Initial Functional Medicine Consultation: $450
  • Follow-up Functional Medicine visits/consults: $250
  • Initial Anti-Aging Testing/Treatment Consultation: $280
  • Follow-up Anti-Aging Testing/Treatment Consultation: $180
  • Initial Nutrition Consult: $125
  • Follow-up Nutrition Consult: $80

Labs: Some basic Laboratory tests may be covered by your insurance plan.

We will provide (to the best of our ability) accurate information and estimates regarding costs for labs. However, please be advised that Advanced and Specialty labs may not be covered by insurance. You will be given the fees for all labs prior to ordering. Lab costs can range from $200-$5,000. All labs are suggested in order of priority and severity of condition.

For more information about our fees, please read our Office Policies.

Do you accept insurance?

Senara Medical Weight Loss and Anti-Aging Center accepts a wide range of insurance plans. Some basic laboratory tests are covered by many insurance plans, and we will gladly bill your insurance for reimbursement for those tests if coverage is available. However, Medical Weight Loss and Functional Medicine services — including consultations, therapies, and follow-up appointments — are not covered by insurance. As such, we do not bill your insurance for these services. We offer competitive pricing and payment options. Click here to read our Office Policies and learn more.

IV Therapy FAQs

How much does IV Therapy cost?

Costs can fluctuate widely depending on your treatment goals for IV therapy. A single IV Infusion session is between $149–$279. Additional costs may include diagnostic testing, doctor consultations, supplements, and health coaching.

How soon will I start to see results?

Results from IV therapy will begin to show fairly quickly! Most guests experience mild improvements at the beginning, and those benefits continue to increase with subsequent visits. Depending on your prescribed IV Infusion treatment plan, there may be a “build-up” stage early on to get your body prepared for the full dose of vitamins.

How many IV treatments will I need?

It all depends on your therapeutic goals. Your Fuse IV physician will create a custom IV therapy treatment plan for you based on the specific condition you are working on. However, the ReFuel Infusion is available as a stand-alone treatment at any time if you need a quick boost of hydration and electrolytes!

Are results guaranteed with IV therapy?

While we would love to provide an absolute, we simply can’t guarantee results because everyone’s body processes nutritional IV therapy differently. Either way, we assure you that we will do everything in our power to help you get the treatments you need to feel better.

Is this covered by my insurance?

Fuse IV services are not covered by insurance. Read our Office Policies to learn more.

What research can you provide to back up nutritional IV therapy?

Nutritional IV therapy is a heavily researched area, particularly for high-dose vitamin C. For a brief rundown of the results we recommend visiting Cancer.gov’s page on the topic.

Below is a list of the numerous studies that have been published in the area of nutritional IV therapy. We will continue to update this list as more research is published!

BHRT and Low T FAQs

What is the difference between bioidentical and synthetic hormones?

While both bioidentical and synthetic hormones are created in a lab, how they are used and how they work with the body has significant differences. Bioidentical hormones are 100% naturally derived from plants such as soy and yams. Additionally, bioidentical hormones can be adjusted for the individual more precisely.

Synthetic hormones are patented by pharmaceutical companies and only sold in specific strengths. Because bioidentical hormones are not patented, your doctor can adjust how your medication is compounded more acutely. Your specific dosage is truly yours and is based on your hormone balancing needs.

Another advantage of bioidentical hormones is that they are created to be structurally the same as human endogenous hormones. This leads to fewer side effects and improved effectiveness. Bioidentical hormones work in harmony with your body.

Do I need a prescription for bioidentical hormones?

Yes, your BHRT prescription is compounded specifically for your hormone balancing needs. Throughout the course of your treatment, we will routinely check your hormone levels and adjust your medication as your own hormone production stabilizes.

Can both men and women benefit from Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Absolutely! Both men and women can experience unpleasant side effects from hormone imbalances, and can benefit from BHRT to alleviate those symptoms. Testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen are present in both men and women. As we age, optimal levels of these hormones decline. Men and women may experience slightly different side effects from hormonal imbalance, but both sexes can experience greatly improved quality of life with BHRT.

Do you have to be a certain age to begin BHRT?

Not necessarily. While most women and men will experience fluctuation in hormone levels past the age of 40, some will begin andropause and perimenopause much earlier. Furthermore, by establishing a baseline of your hormone levels in your 20s and 30s, you can more proactively treat changes in your hormone levels as you age.

Do you accept insurance?

Senara Medical Weight Loss and Anti-Aging Center accepts a wide range of insurance plans. Some basic laboratory tests are covered by many insurance plans, and we will gladly bill your insurance for reimbursement for those tests if coverage is available. However, Medical Weight Loss and Functional Medicine services, such as consultations, therapies, and follow-up appointments, are not covered by insurance. As such, we do not bill your insurance for these services. To learn more about out payment option, click here.

GAINSWave FAQs

What is GAINSWave?

GAINSWave is a proven protocol in regenerative medicine for men that improves sexual performance, treats ED, and keeps the penis healthy. GAINSWave will benefit any man seeking to enhance his sexual pleasure and performance.

How does GAINSWave work?

GAINSWave works by using high-frequency acoustic waves to open existing blood vessels in the penis, stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, and eliminate micro-plaque. The result is increased blood flow in the penis resulting in stronger, harder, and more sustainable erections.

Is the GAINSWave new technology?

No! This type of therapy has been used in Europe for over 15 years with great success.

How many treatments are required?

Depending on your goals, anywhere from six to 12 treatments are recommended. We also have a preventative maintenance and performance package to maintain results and optimize performance.
