The Science Of Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatments

If you follow our blog, then you’ve become familiar with the science of stem cell therapy as well as the different conditions that stem cell therapy can treat. In today’s post, we are going to talk more specifically about how our platelet-rich plasma treatments work in a few of our medical spa treatments.

At Senara Health And Healing Center & Spa, we administer PRP through a couple of different methods. Depending on the treatment, PRP is either injected into specific areas of the body or applied as a masque. Continue reading for more information about PRP treatments, how they work, and where we apply them. Check out our page on restorative medicine for more information as well.

The Process

The beginning of any PRP treatment will always start with a blood draw. We use the patient’s blood because it is compatible with their DNA and contains the growth factors that are needed to regenerate cells and stimulate cell production.

We then run the blood through a centrifuge to separate the blood cells from the growth factors. This creates the plasma serum that we either inject back into the patient, apply as a masque, or sometimes both.

Hair Loss Treatment

Hair loss may seem like an inevitable part of life, but thanks to advancements in science, our medical spa offers hair loss treatment using PRP injections coupled with laser therapy.

This is an all-natural treatment that uses the body’s own ability for healing to stimulate new hair growth. The growth factors and proteins are injected into areas of the scalp where the patient is experiencing hair loss. We then use the ThermaDome® laser technology to help the PRP penetrate deep into the scalp to stimulate the growth of thicker and stronger hair.

This treatment occurs once a month for three months. After that, follow-up treatments can occur quarterly for up to two years. The recommended aftercare will depend on the patient’s amount of hair loss, type of hair loss, genetics, and age.

Skin Rejuvenation

Another aspect of life that people often believe is inevitable but unfortunate is aging skin. As you witness lines starting to form on your face and skin starting to relax, you may think that BOTOX, fillers, or a facelift is your only option.

However, PRP and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) work to restore the skin in a more natural way. Again, we use the patient’s own blood, so results are entirely natural and based on their own body’s ability to heal itself and generate new cell production.

At our medical spa, we offer our PRF treatment alongside a microneedling procedure that allows the growth factors and proteins to penetrate your skin even deeper to generate new collagen production.

You can opt to have the procedure done with both PRF injections and a PRF masque or you can choose one over the other. Depending on the condition of your skin, our physician will be able to recommend one treatment over another.

Like the hair loss treatment, this procedure is done in three separate sessions to ensure the longevity of results. After that, you can choose to have treatment done as often as you’d like to maintain the results.

Scar Treatment

Since PRP treatments help with skin rejuvenation and cell production, it can also be a great option to reduce the appearance of scarring. This treatment can be done in different ways, similar to the PRP facial with microneedling.

When injected below the scar tissue, the PRP works to stimulate collagen production to make the skin appear smoother and tighter. This is a great option when a PRP masque would not penetrate deeply enough to heal the scar..

For less severe scarring, microneedling is a great option to help break up the scar tissue. Then, by applying a PRP masque, the growth factors will stimulate the production of healthy skin cells.
