  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of your appointment. This will allow ample time for you to fill out any additional paperwork, and for our front desk to prepare your file for the chiropractor.

  • If you have any recent X-rays, MRIs, or other relevant diagnostic test results, please bring them with you to your appointment.
  • Bring your current major medical insurance card and a valid photo ID.

    • If you have been in a recent auto accident and are seeking treatment from our Peoria chiropractic team, please bring with the following:

      • Your auto insurance card and policy contact information.
      • The claim number associated with your auto accident through your insurance.
      • A copy of the accident report.
      • Medical records from any ER, orthopedist, or other medical visits related to the claim.

Your Initial Chiropractic Care Consultation

What to Expect

Welcome to Senara Health and Healing Center & Spa, the home of Kramer Chiropractic & Acupuncture Center. In order to help you with your first chiropractic visit, we want to highlight what you can expect.

STEP 1: CONSULTATION AND HISTORY

We want to get to know a little bit about you, your health history, and your major health concerns. We will also discuss the “stress” in your life. By stress, we mean the three dimensions of stress: physical (how you treat your body), biochemical (what you put in your body), and psychological (how your mindset affects your body). We find negative stress is a major inhibitor to achieving overall wellness, and it can have an impact on your nervous system functioning.

STEP 2: RANGE OF MOTION TESTING

You will have a range of motion study performed. This test will determine what your current mobility and function limitations are in both your neck and low back. We need to know where you are when you start seeing one of our chiropractors so that we can compare and show your progress as you continue your chiropractic care.

STEP 3: A NEUROLOGICAL AND ORTHOPEDIC EXAM

The chiropractor will analyze your posture, do an orthopedic exam, and look for subluxations in your spine. A subluxation is a misalignment in your spine that puts pressure on your nerves and, therefore, cuts off your nervous system communication.

Chiropractors treat subluxations in order to allow your nerves to communicate properly, so that you can achieve optimal health.

STEP 4: X-RAYS

Depending on your condition and the chiropractors’ exam findings, you may receive X-rays on your first visit. Since we treat your spine, we need to determine if you have any structural damage or changes to your spine (arthritis, curve changes, bone spurs, pinched nerves, etc.). The chiropractors use your X-rays as a radar for your specific treatments.

STEP 5: TREATMENT 

You may receive some sort of treatment during your chiropractic consultation, at your chiropractor’s discretion. First-day treatment may include an adjustment, physical therapy, massage therapy, nutritional supplements, or acupuncture.

STEP 6: REPORT OF TESTING AND TREATMENT PLAN

At your second visit, your Senara chiropractor will review your X-rays and test results with you in detail. He or she will also present you with a recommended treatment plan and estimated costs. We want you to be an informed and active participant in your health care, and our chiropractic team will take the time to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Our Office Manager will also meet with you to review our Office Policies and discuss payment options with you.

After meeting with your chiropractor and the office manager, you will receive your treatment for the day. Our front desk staff will help you schedule your appointments at our chiropractic care clinic per your finalized treatment plan.

The Three Phases Of Chiropractic Care

During your initial visit, your Senara chiropractor will explain the three phases of chiropractic care to you. Our goal is to help you heal through each phase so that you can achieve lasting wellness. Dynamic healthcare provided at Senara is designed to treat you at each step, which minimizes your chance of relapse and flare-ups. The health of your spine and nervous system is important to us.

PHASE 1: RELIEF CARE

Relief care is necessary to reduce or relieve symptoms or pain, but it does not relieve the underlying cause of the symptoms/pain. It is the same as drying a floor that was getting wet from a leak, but not fixing the leak. Relief care is not permanent. 

PHASE 2: CORRECTIVE CARE

Corrective care is necessary not only to relieve or reduce a person’s pain or symptoms, but also to remove the actual cause of the problem. It is the same as fixing the leak in the floor, not just drying it.

PHASE 3: WELLNESS CARE

Wellness care is necessary to keep your body moving towards health. Your system is constantly working towards one of two paths: health or disease — there is no in between. The desire to continue on the path of health will enable your body to prevent problems from occurring and therefore keep your body at its optimal function level. This occurs after we fix the leak in the floor; we keep up on alleviating the wear and tear of the floor and make sure nothing occurs to cause another leak.

Payment Options For Chiropractic Care

Senara believes in the value of health and wellness care for you and your family. That’s why we offer a pricing structure that allows care for all budgets. We participate in most insurance programs, and we also accept auto accident cases. For guests with little or no chiropractic insurance coverage, flexible payment programs can be arranged. To learn more about our payment options for chiropractic health and wellness care, you can call our office directly at 309-693-9600.

Insurance

Most insurance plans are accepted at Senara. We also accept auto accident, personal injury, and most health insurance plans, including Medicare. Since there are so many plans and coverage varies widely, please call us at 309-693-9600 to find out if your insurance plan covers care from chiropractors at Senara. Our staff will verify and explain your benefits at no charge before any treatment.

ChiroHealth Membership

We offer discounted chiropractic care services through ChiroHealth USA to cash-paying guests. If you have insurance coverage for chiropractic care in our office, we can still bill your insurance plan for the benefits you have available. When your major medical insurance benefits are exhausted, a ChiroHealth Membership allows you to continue to receive chiropractic care at affordable rates with straightforward pricing.

If you do not have chiropractic coverage or would like to avoid using your insurance due to a high deductible or copay, the ChiroHealth Membership Discount Plan is the perfect alternative so you can receive cost-effective treatment. ChiroHealth helps you save money, is easy to understand, and allows you to receive chiropractic care you need with straightforward pricing. Members also benefit from discounted pricing on other services like acupuncture, physical therapy, massage therapy, and lab testing.

To enroll in Senara’s ChiroHealth Membership Discount Program, please visit the front desk at our chiropractic care clinic for an application. The annual enrollment fee of $49 — payable to ChiroHealthUSA via check or credit card — is due upon receipt of the completed enrollment form. Membership benefits begin immediately and are valid for a full 365 days from the date of purchase.

Certain limitations apply to enrollment. Some insurance plans prohibit enrollment in discount plans, and HSA or FSA benefits may not be available for services received. Please inquire with our front desk or billing department to find out your eligibility for enrollment in ChiroHealthUSA.

Care Credit

Senara is proud to offer Care Credit as a financing option for our medical and chiropractic clinic guests. Pre-Planning Checklist For First-Time Medical Weight Loss Patients

Set the stage for success! We want you to meet your weight loss goals, and that takes careful planning. Before beginning your medical weight loss program, we recommend you take some time to prepare by doing the following:

  • Clean out your fridge, freezer, and cabinets of unhealthy foods.
  • Ask household members if they will participate in your new eating habits with you or request that they keep temptation foods for them hidden away from you.
  • Tell your friends and family about your goal and ask for their support. Identify “team members” that can keep you accountable and cheer you on.
  • Find an exercise that you love and commit to doing it. Renew your gym membership or find a new one. You can even subscribe to fitness channels and websites through your TV.
  • Invest in a fitness tracking device and heart rate monitor; either a high-end or simple pedometer (step tracker) will work.
  • Start a journal. We always recommend that you track your progress daily. Write down your food and water intake or simply jot down how you day went; it’s a great way to stay focused on your goal. Whether you prefer pen and paper, an app, or a blog, journaling keeps you on track with your medical weight loss goals!

Your Initial Medical Weight Loss Consultation & Follow-Up Appointment

Getting started with a medical weight loss program begins with gathering a lot of information. Once all of your information has been compiled, your medical weight loss plan can be prescribed. Because of this, your initial medical weight loss visits will be done in two (or more) parts.

Your First Medical Weight Loss Consultation

During your first appointment at Senara’s Medical Weight Loss Center, you will consult with a staff physician and our Health Coach. We will perform a series of assessments, labs, and a complete medical history. These findings will help us better understand your weight-related health risks. Information gathered will also help us track your progress through your custom medical weight loss program.

We will perform the following tests and measurements during this visit:

  • Meet with one of our doctors for assessment and completion of a medical exam
  • Review personal health, family health, and diet histories
  • Conduct a digital weight and body composition analysis
  • Calculate your BMI and take your body measurements
  • Take a blood sample to determine your overall health and physiological function

    • We perform labs tests for basic health markers like blood cholesterol; sugar levels; as well as thyroid, kidney, and liver function
  • Perform an EKG to monitor heart health
  • Take a “Before” photo to document your starting point in your medical weight loss program
  • Schedule a follow-up appointment to review lab and test results

This visit will take approximately one hour to complete, so we request that all paperwork be completed ahead of time. 

Please do not eat or drink anything (other than plenty of water!) after 10 p.m. on the evening prior to your lab work or at least 4 hours prior to afternoon appointments. However, do continue to take prescription medications as indicated. Also, please avoid wearing any body lotion on the day of your first visit or the EKG will be very difficult to perform.

Presentation of Your Weight Loss Treatment Plan

Following you initial consultation, you will have a follow-up appointment to go over your detailed weight loss plan. Based on the information gathered at your first visit, we will customize a medical weight loss plan to meet your goals and address any applicable health conditions affecting your weight.

Expect the following during your follow-up appointment:

  • We will review your health and diet history.

Preparing for Your First Visit

Before arriving for your first visit to our Anti-Aging Clinic, a division of our Health and Healing Center, please take a moment to peruse our site. To ensure that your first visit is a successful one, we recommend you preview the information below, complete the intake forms, and read through the pre-planning checklists. By doing this ahead of time, your first appointment is likely to run more smoothly and on time. Our goal is to get you started quickly so you can begin your anti-aging journey.

Preparing For Your First Functional Medicine & Anti-Aging Clinic Visit

Getting started with functional medicine at the Senara Anti-Aging Clinic begins by gathering a lot of information about your medical history and current health. Once all of your information has been compiled, your anti-aging or functional medicine care plan can be prescribed. Because of this, your initial anti-aging and functional medicine visits will be completed in two or more appointments.

Prior to Your First Visit

Before your first doctor consultation, we ask that you fill out our Medical History Form and submit copies of any laboratory tests and diagnostics from your other medical providers. We require that you complete and submit both the intake form and prior test results to us no later than 3 days prior to your initial scheduled appointment. If you are unable to submit this information to us within the requested time frame, we will reschedule your anti-aging and functional medicine appointment for a later date.

Pre-Appointment Checklist

Once you have your initial appointment scheduled, it’s time to get to work! All of the information you share with us about your health provides your Senara physician with the tools he or she needs to begin your road to wellness.

About Your First Senara Functional Medicine and Anti-Aging Consultation

During your first consultation at the Senara Anti-Aging Clinic, you will initially meet with Dr. Kramer. You may also meet our nutrition coach and other staff physicians. We will perform a series of assessments, labs, and review and update your medical history. These findings will help us better understand your chronic health conditions and help us establish a baseline for your anti-aging and functional medicine treatment.

We will perform the following tests and measurement during this visit:

  • Meet with Dr. Kramer and other health professionals.
  • Review your health history and gather additional health information.
  • Conduct a physical examination and assessment.
  • Prescribe custom lab work, including urine, saliva, or stool testing, per Dr Kramer’s assessment.
  • Schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss your tests, lab results, and plan of anti-aging and functional medicine care.

This visit will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete. 

Please do not eat or drink anything (other than plenty of water!) after 10 p.m. on the evening prior to your lab work or at least 8 hours prior for afternoon appointments. You should, however, continue to take prescription medications as indicated.

Please bring with ALL of your medications, vitamins, supplements, and other holistic remedies you use. We ask that you bring the physical containers, if possible.

Follow-Up Consultation & Anti-Aging Treatment Plan

In follow-up visits, our doctors spend significant time discussing your results with you. For example, it is relatively simple to inform a patient that her mammogram is negative; but it is entirely different to discuss the results of more complex functional evaluations and to recommend practical lifestyle and dietary strategies that may help to prevent breast cancer.

At your follow-up appointment, we will go over your test results and detailed anti-aging treatment plan. Your treatment plan will be customized for you, with the goal of treating any applicable health conditions and concerns.

During your follow-up appointment:

  • We will review your health and diet history.
  • We will discuss the results of your physical exams, lab draws, and other diagnostics.
  • We will present you with your anti-aging program recommendations and go over them in detail with you.
  • You will be given supplements and/or prescriptions that your doctor recommends for your plan.
  • You will schedule a follow-up appointments, classes, labs, etc.
  • You will participate in a 30 minute One-on-One Health Coaching Session.
